Frequently Asked Questions

Consultation

This is a chance for you to share what you’re seeking help with and to see if I’m someone you feel comfortable talking to. This 15-minute session is free and helps us determine if we’re a good fit for your journey.

If your needs are outside my expertise, I will refer you to a more suitable therapist. My priority is that you get the best possible support, even if it is not with me.

Referring someone to me is a great form of flattery as it suggests that you think I can be a great support for them! Just have them fill out the contact form on my Booking Page directly.

We’ve determined it’s a match! Now what?

The paperwork you’ll need to complete includes: Therapy Policies and Informed Consent, Credit Card Payment Details, and a Demographic Profile. This helps us streamline our time so we can focus on you during our sessions.
You’ll also receive instructions for setting up your Online Account Portal for virtual sessions and tips to help you get the most out of our sessions.

I offer sessions on a regular day and time, which we will book based on your chosen frequency (weekly or biweekly). For example, if you choose Monday at 5 PM, we’ll stick to that time slot. Feel free to ask for more specific availability during our initial consultation!

My Qualifications

I hold a Medical Degree and a Master’s in Counseling Psychology. I continue to pursue additional certifications to stay updated in my field.
My relevant work experience includes rotations in psychiatric hospitals, working at health clinics, and helping those in crisis at a distress call center.

Approach

I keep my ethical compass in check by regular supervision and case consultations. This helps me evaluate any biases and blind spots and refer out or adapt as needed.

I continue to sharpen my skills through workshops and certifications. But your feedback? That’s the secret ingredient to making sure our sessions hit the mark!

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) – Challenge negative thoughts and behaviours
  • Mindfulness-Based – Reduce stress and improve awareness
  • Solution-Focused – Leverage your strengths to meet your goals
  • Gestalt – Enhance self-expression and awareness
  • Narrative – Reshape your personal story

Insurance

No discrimination- I accept all insurance plans! Please check with your insurance provider beforehand to see if services by a Registered Psychotherapist are covered, as well as how much, to avoid any expensive surprises.
Payments are processed by charging your credit card on file after each session, and you will receive an email receipt for your records. You can then submit your receipt yourself to your insurance company.

Think of your insurance like a gift card to your favorite store—it might cover part of the cost. Once it runs out, you will need to pay the difference out of pocket because you want to continue shopping there.

Confidentiality

It can be a small world, but you don’t need to worry about it. Whether you see me in public, someone asks about a mutual connection, or a referral follows up, I will never disclose any information about you. Your privacy is my priority, and I will always say I can’t confirm or deny who my clients are. You’re welcome to share whatever you’re comfortable with, though!

Unless you explicitly give permission, I will not disclose any details about our sessions or confirm your status as my client to anyone, including insurance companies, your doctor’s office, or even family members.

Please review the confidentiality exceptions listed below that I am required to comply with:

  • If I receive a court order to release your notes including file.
  • If you express intent to harm yourself or others.
  • If there is any indication of child abuse.

Time Commitment

Generally, clients work with me for at least six months, and sometimes up to a year or two, depending on the complexity of their concerns. Many clients continue beyond their initial goals, discovering there’s always more to explore.

As long as I continue to be a good fit for your needs and you’re interested, we can keep working together. This often leads to the most meaningful breakthroughs.

Life happens, and I get that things can get busy. If you need to cancel or reschedule, please refer to the consent policies you sign to avoid late cancellation charges. We can work together to find a more suitable day or time if needed.

However, if consistently meeting at least twice a month becomes challenging, we may need to discuss closing your file. Don’t worry— I can provide referrals to therapists who offer an informal structure instead.

Ofcourse I do! Reach back out via the Booking Page and we can see about getting started again.
